The Cannes Film Festival opened with a bang this year, as Meryl Streep received the honorary Palme d'Or. But the festival has also been hit by storm clouds, as several high-profile films have been pulled from the lineup.

One of the most notable withdrawals was "The Last Duel," directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon, Jodie Comer, and Adam Driver. The film was originally scheduled to premiere at Cannes, but was pulled due to scheduling conflicts.

Another high-profile withdrawal was "Annette," directed by Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. The film was pulled from the lineup due to post-production delays.

These withdrawals have left a hole in the Cannes lineup, but there are still plenty of highly anticipated films to look forward to. Among them are "The French Dispatch," directed by Wes Anderson and starring Timothée Chalamet, Bill Murray, and Tilda Swinton; "Benedetta," directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Virginie Efira and Charlotte Rampling; and "Titane," directed by Julia Ducournau and starring Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon.

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, and it's always a major event on the cinematic calendar. Despite the storm clouds, there's no doubt that this year's festival will be another memorable one.
